Physicians are embracing telemedicine as a way to deepen relationships with their patients, according to HIDA’s latest Horizon Report Telemedicine: Patient Perspectives. While patients plan to schedule more televisits in 2017, these actions are not disrupting existing relationships with primary care providers. In fact, over half of patients learned about televisits because they were offered by their physicians. One respondent commented that his televisit offered a “more personal experience than just the five to 10 minutes it would have been at the office.”
Both users and non-users see televisits as more convenient, faster, and less expensive. HIDA’s earlier Horizon Report Millennials as Healthcare Consumers revealed that Millennials highly value these qualities in a provider. More recent findings suggest offering televisits may be a key way providers can cement relationships with this generation.
