Customer Testimonials
“It would be impossible to get all of the products we need from individual manufacturers. It would be overwhelming as far as the order process and the delivery process, and storage would be a huge issue. Right now we get weekly deliveries, sometimes bi-weekly. A one-week supply of (adult) diapers would fill up a room the size of your bedroom at home.
“Plus some things expire before you can use them if you have too much bulk inventory on hand. Distributors keep product moving.
“Distributors have product knowledge. I’ve been doing this a long time (20 years) and even I don’t have all the product knowledge that I need, but I can ask my distributor. We often don’t know new products that are out there. The average nurse doesn’t know except for a manufacturer rep coming in and telling us it’s the latest and greatest product but a distributor can tell me about someone else who’s tried it.”
-Reuben Bowie, RN, MS, CDONA/LTC, Director of Nursing, Health Central Park
“To us, perhaps the major benefit of distribution is that our distributor manages a lot of the carrying costs so we don’t have to. We don’t need to have a stand-alone warehouse and manage all of the resources and all of the costs associated with an ongoing multi-million dollar inventory.”
-Joy Dicey-Phillips, Senior Director, Supply Chain Management, Scripps Health, 2002-2010
“I am very comfortable in knowing that our distributor is going to come forward and say, “These are the areas where you are wasting money.” And it happens on a quarterly basis… You wouldn’t think that a company that makes money by selling us products would want to help us reduce our spending, but they do that all the time.”
-Carolyn Merucci-Anderson, Director of Community Services, NexCare Health Systems.
“I can’t imagine that a hospital or manufacturer can distribute for themselves less expensively than a multi-million dollar distributor can do it. The amount of capital required to build the infrastructure of distribution is very high when you consider all the transportation and logistics technology required in addition to the inventory itself.”
-John Bardis, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, MedAssets
