The latest HIDA Market Pulse™ shows medical product demand growth has slowed in the acute care market. The surgical volume-adjusted index was 22.9 in the first quarter, indicating slight growth, but more recently fell to 6.6 in the second quarter, just above flat growth.

Acute care providers report admissions have declined since last quarter, while the number of outpatient procedures and the average length of patient stay remain about the same. Notably, these trends have contributed to slower medical product demand across all regions of the U.S.
